*As of 3am – 1/22/12(PST)

Both Muscle Milk/Honda’s Trey Canard and Ryan Morais were involved in a freak accident on the opening lap of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, tonight inside Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium. Trey, after getting a tough block cover caught in his rear wheel, was forced to just double the big triple, and Ryan Morais landed directly on his head and back. (You can watch the crash here.) In what was a very scary scene, both men were knocked unconscious for some time, carted off the track on backboards and taken to local hospitals for evaluation.

Early reports on Ryan Morais are a concussion and a broken jaw, but we have heard nothing to confirm the full extent of Ryan’s injuries. Trey’s early reports were that he suffered a concussion and some bumps and bruises, but after a scan for further injuries on his back, the news got worse. The last report we heard was that Trey, in fact, sustained a T10-12 fracture in his spine and will be in surgery this evening. This comes just as Trey was returning from three major injuries.

We will keep you updated as we hear more on both riders. Our thoughts and prayers are with both of them tonight.

We will be updating this page below as we hear more.
