At round three of the 2013 Monster Energy Supercross, an FIM World Championship Series, Justin Barcia had a night he is already trying to forget. First, Bam Bam had to qualify in the LCQ after crashing in his heat race and only being able to manage a 10th. Then, after yanking an awesome start with a horrible gate pick in the main event, Barcia cased a triple jump while running third. After casing the triple jump, he was forced to pull off with a gash on his eyebrow that was deep enough for stitches and, we hear, a broken nose as well.
With no points scored at Anaheim 2, the rookie dropped from 2nd to 8th in the 450SX points standing—twenty-three points behind leader Davi Millsaps. There is no word on whether or not we will see Justin in Oakland next week, but with Bam Bam, we expect it will take more than some stitches and a broken nose to keep him on the couch.
