The TLD Team, since it’s inception in the Supercross discipline, has been focused on west coast Supercross only. That may change in the future, and a sign of that willingness to interact with the eastern seaboard is Shane McElrath getting his feet wet in the premier 450 class at New Jersey Supercross on April 25th.
Shane has been making steady improvements to his riding and his results throughout the season so far, and he is looking forward to trying his hand on the bigger machine. Testing has already begun for McElrath on his KTM 450SX Factory Edition machine, and so far it’s going well. Shane looks comfortable and the bike is exceeding everyone’s expectations. The entire team is excited about this venture, including team manager, Tyler Keefe.
“Shane is such a smart rider and he’s very strong, so I feel like the 450SX FE is going to suit him really well,” said Keefe. “I’ve spent a lot of time watching the way he rides and I feel like he’ll excel on a big bike. It’s going to be a fun project.”
While the Troy Lee Designs race team has competed on the east coast in Supermoto and National Motocross, this is the first time the TLD squad is on the east coast for Supercross. It will be a great opportunity for fans and Troy Lee Designs dealers to meet the riders and the personnel that make the results happen every weekend. The entire team, semi and support staff will be on hand to assist Shane in his maiden 450 effort. Be sure to find your way to East Rutherford and hang out with the Troy Lee Designs crew.
