Yesterday, during his first race at the 2015 Red Bull Straight Rhythm event, GEICO/Honda’s RJ Hampshire crashed hard in the whoop section. There’s nothing you hate seeing more than a rider face down and unconscious on the track, and RJ remained asleep on the last whoop for what seemed like forever. RJ did wake up eventually and was taken to a local area hospital. Today he updated his fans with a tweet from his @Hampshire21 Twitter account.
There’s not a lot of info in his tweet and what is said sounds scary, but he does seem to be in good enough shape to smile about a little brain bleeding. Hopefully RJ’s all good and can get back to preparing for his sophomore professional Supercross season in 2016. You can check out what RJ said about his crash that caused all the damage below.
