During the first lap of the Lille (Bercy) Supercross main event, Yoshimura/Suzuki’s James Stewart went down and collected his brother, GEICO/Honda’s Malcolm Stewart, in the crash. Malcolm quickly remounted and tried to get back to work, but James came up lame. James was the fastest rider all night long in France and easily set the fastest lap in the earlier Superpole event.

As of now it’s all speculation, but it looked like James possibly injured his right knee. [we are now told it was his ankle] The former two-time 450SX Champion had to be assisted off the track. We’re hoping he just jammed it and will be okay. We will bring you more updates as we get them. Click here for Lille-Bercy SX results.

*Update: We are now hearing that James in fact injured his ankle and not his knee. While both are not good, we all know an ankle injury is generally better than a knee injury. James will not race on Sunday
