Monster Energy® Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac rode an incredible pace and battled his way to the win in 450 Heat 1 in Oakland for round seven of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM Championship. However, in the Main Event, Tomac would start from outside the top ten, creating a long night for himself. He began charging his way through the field early and by the half way mark, Tomac had raced his way into eighth. By the end of the 20 lap Main Event, he crossed the line in seventh place. Teammate Wil Hahn continues to hit his milestones, as he once again improved his finishes and overall racing pace. Qualifying straight out the semi, Hahn was placed in a great position for the Main Event. After a 14th place start, Hahn began picking off riders early and by the time the checkered flag flew he had raced his way up into tenth, a season best.

“The day was up and down for me,” said Tomac. “We couldn’t quite figure out bike set up on tonight’s track which fought against us all day. Although, once the night show came around and we took the win in the first heat, I felt really good and was ready to drop the gate of the Main Event. Unfortunately, a small mistake getting out of the gate held us back from our goal. The team and I will continue to work and come back in Phoenix rejuvenated.”

“Overall, tonight was a huge improvement,” said Hahn. “My starts have improved which made my life a little easier in the Main Event, although my aggression was not quite up to par with my competition. We’re going to continue to put our head down and keep improving every weekend.

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider Joey Savatgy left Oakland on top of the world as he earned his first career Monster Energy Supercross 250SX win and also claimed the 250SX West region points lead. The night started off strong with Savatgy taking yet another heat race win, while Chris Alldredge brought his KX™250F home to a solid fourth in the same heat race. Savatgy looked to the Main Event with hunger for his first supercross win and at the gate drop he came around the first turn in third. Teammate Alldredge tangled with another rider coming out of the dragonback and dropped to the back of the field. By lap four, Savatgy had already worked his way up into second and by lap 12 Savatgy made the pass for the lead. By the time the checkers flew, Savatgy had maintained a comfortable lead and claimed the first 250SX win of his career. Savatgy now leads the points standings heading into Phoenix.

“Today was really good,” said Savatgy. “Qualifying went well, it’s really close between the top guys right now, so as long as we are all within about half a second we’re in a good spot. In the heat race I felt like I didn’t ride how I wanted to, I felt a bit tight, but I got a good start to the night by taking the win. At the gate drop I put myself in a good position and after a few laps I was in second. I settled in and tried to make sure I could stay with the leader. I ended up making the pass for the lead with a few laps to go and had a bit of a moment where I landed on a tough block, which bent my shifter all the way out to my foot peg. That made it very difficult to shift and forced me to concentrate for the rest of the race. I earned my first supercross win, and the points lead, so emotions are really high right now. Time to go back to the farm and keep working as hard as we have been.”

“Today I felt the best on the track that I have all year,” said Alldredge. “I have a great team and a great bike, but my results aren’t where they need to be. It’s time for me to put my head down and really focus, I’ll be training hard between now and Phoenix
