Today, an announcement may have leaked a day early from a press release dated February 9th from the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Arenacross team. The Rockstar Energy/Husqvarna team has signed Austin Stroupe to fill in for the injured defending AX Champion Kyle Regal in the AMSOIL Arenacross series. Stroupy has recently returned to racing in the AMSOIL Arenacross series and established himself as a viable replacement for Regal with a win at the Baltimore AX in the Lites East class. In the press release, it states that Austin will take over for Regal at round 6 this weekend in Birmingham, Alabama.

Austin Stroupe: “I’m excited with this opportunity to race for a top team like Rockstar Husqvarna in a great series like AMSOIL Arenacross. It would have been nice if it wasn’t because of Kyle getting hurt, because none of us like an advantage because of another guy getting injured. But that’s racing and these things happen. I wish Kyle a speedy recovery. In the meantime, I will give it my best shot to do him and the team justice.”

Team Manager Junior Jackson: “Although it’s a matter of unfortunate circumstance that brought Austin to the team, we’re pleased to have him with us for Round 6. He is definitely an accomplished rider and his results in Baltimore showed that. At this point we’re in the dark as far as Kyle Regal’s return to action. We’re hoping he will be able to rejoin the team in two weeks, but it’s a question mark right now. Everyone at Rockstar Husqvarna wishes Kyle a quick recovery so that he will be able to resume his quest for a championship repeat.”
