Tim Gajser: “That was a good race and I’m very pleased with today. I was following Antonio and I could see that he was riding always inside lines so it was not easy to pass, so I started trying different lines behind him. I lost time with some but then caught back up again, always trying something new, so I waited until I saw a good opportunity in the waves and made my move. I think I found some good lines today which will help me in the races tomorrow for sure.”

Evgeny Bobryshev: “I had really good pace today and was over one second faster at times so I was feeling good for the race. Things were working well today and I feel like there was a lot of promise and we could have made a good result, but unfortunately I was unlucky at the start and had a pretty big crash. I’m just bruised and banged up a bit though, so now I’ll rest overnight and I’m sure I’ll be ok for tomorrow.”

Kevin Strijbos: “I’m pretty happy with my riding because my back is still jammed and I needed painkillers to get through the day. I didn’t ride much in practice and knew it would be tricky in the race. I had some wheelspin on the gate and that messed up the start. I turned tight at the first turn and was in the top-10 and then somehow got up to third by the finish line! I followed Tony [Cairoli] and [Tim] Gajser but couldn’t make a move and then tightened-up in the last laps with some mistakes so ‘Jerre’ passed me. Still, fourth is pretty good. I hope my back will not be too painful for tomorrow and we have a good race day.”

Ben Townley: “Rubbish start and then I had to stop behind Tanel Leok who had crashed and lost some time. I charged right up to Shaun in fifth and was trying to pass him on the inside but he squared the corner and we came together. It was a big collision and I must have got my finger caught in there somewhere. I was down in 12th and fought back to seventh. I feel great on the track and I reckon I have a podium ‘chance’ in me but I need to sort out the start.”

David Herbreteau: “Today was an ok day, but I think we can hope for more tomorrow. Especially if the track gets more rutted and technical tomorrow in the races I think I can have more speed and make more time, which will help us get nearer the top ten because the field is very strong here. But I’m feeling good, the track is nice and I’m looking forward to tomorrow.”

Jorge Zaragoza: “I’m disappointed with today. I was feeling good so it’s a shame. Pootjes jumped and came from right to left and hit me in the air, so it was a big crash. I’m lucky to be ok, and I’m thankful for that. We must now just focus on tomorrow and try and come back from the start.”
