Straight Rhythm Airs As Part Of The Red Bull Signature Series Sunday, November 27th

Santa Monica, Calif. (November 22, 2016) –After a highly successful inaugural event in 2014, Red Bull Straight Rhythm, an evolution of the sport of supercross, returns for a third consecutive year at Fairplex in Pomona, California. The one-of-a-kind race features head-to-head racing on an “unwound” track where there are no turns, just a 1/2 mile-long straight track complete with over 70 jumps. This Sunday, a 90-minute TV special on Straight Rhythm will air on NBC at 1:30pm ET/10:30am PT as part of the Red Bull Signature Series, a collection of the most innovative and progressive events in action sports.

The Red Bull Straight Rhythm rider field is split up into two classes – 16 riders in the Open Class and 8 riders in the Lites Class (250cc or less). Standout riders at the event include Ryan Dungey, Marvin Musquin and Josh Hansen, who will all return to race in the Open Class, alongside newcomer Trey Canard. In the Lites Class, South African Kerim Fitz-Gerald will face off against Shane McElrath, Dakota Alix and Josh Hill, who will try his luck aboard an Alta Motors electric motorcycle.

All riders will start from an elevated platform, which provides for a unique feature for both the competitors and spectator viewing. New for 2016, the riders will be heading directly in to a rhythm section, leading to different rhythm options right out of the gate. The Red Bull Straight Rhythm track includes:

  • 12,000 cubic yards of dirt
  • 74 total jumps
