Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Eli Tomac earned a dominant win at Round 7 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As the gate dropped for the 450SX Class Main Event Tomac exited Turn 1 in third with teammate Grant in fifth. Before the first lap was over Tomac raced the No. 3 KX™450F into second with Grant following suit in fourth. Tomac began applying pressure to the leader and with 18 minutes remaining made a clean pass for the lead. Shortly after, Grant made a mistake and was relegated to 12th place. Tomac used the remaining laps to set the fastest lap of the race and the win at the first ever Monster Energy Supercross at U.S. Bank Stadium with teammate Grant in 14th.

“The night could not have gone better,” said Tomac. “I qualified on pole again and earned two great starts in my heat and the main. I got into a grove and made my way to the front. Once I got there I just rode my own race, it was all about being smooth and consistent. Great win and valuable points, bring on Atlanta!”

“Tonight went really well,” said Grant. “After taking a week off to heal a fractured thumb, I rode twice this week and felt nearly 100%. I started off the night well by qualifying straight out of my heat and backed it up with another great start in the main. Unfortunately, I went down twice and ended up 14th. Overall a really good night to build off.”

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki kicked off the 250SX East Region Championship with Joey Savatgy taking the win and the championship points leader red plate. Savatgy set the pace for the night early on by earning the win in 250 Heat 1 with teammate Adam Cianciarulo taking second place. In the 250SX Class Main Event, Savatgy rounded the first turn in fourth with Cianciarulo inside the top ten. Savatgy quickly put the No. 17 KX™250F into second place while Cianciarulo began working his way towards the front. Savatgy began taking time out of the leader and with seven minutes remaining made a clean pass for the lead with Cianciarulo racing his way into fifth. As the checkers flew Savatgy earned his first win of 2017 with Cianciarulo crossing the line in fifth place.

“We have had some time away from racing but all things considered we felt pretty good today,” said Savatgy. “I felt like we struggled a bit but we earned the win and I am focused on the championship this year. We gained a lot of momentum and now we just have to keep it rolling next weekend.”

“I feel really good coming into the season,” said Cianciarulo. “I’ve done a lot of laps to prepare and I did what I wanted tonight. My goal was to keep it on two wheels, keep safe and be in it for the long haul. I believe I can be up front and be a championship contender which is definitely my goal, but I need to be patient and I think I’ll be there at the end.”
