Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM’s Martin Races To Career-Best Finish in Atlanta
Atlanta (February 25, 2017)Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM’s Alex Martin bounced back in a big way at the Georgia Dome as he raced to a career-best finish of second. Jordon Smith nearly joined him on the podium, but after going down in the final minutes of the race pushed him back, he settled for fifth.
While Martin is no stranger to the podium he was able to break through for the runner-up spot during the final visit to the Georgia Dome. With his lap times looking good all day, Martin made it through the main event first turn clean and worked his way through the pack. By the end of the first lap, he was in second and battled the whole race to keep second and celebrate his first-ever runner-up finish.

“After our tough break last week, it feels great to be up on the podium,” said Martin. “It’s where I felt like we should have been last week so I’m really happy to put in a solid ride. We will keep putting our heads down and work hard to be up here again next weekend.”

It was another solid showing for Smith, who is now two-for-two with grabbing main event holeshots. He led five laps before being passed but was staying with the front group until a collision with Martin ended with Smith going down momentarily. He quickly rejoined the race but was pushed back to fifth where he finished the race.

“It’s been great getting the holeshots because starts are a big part of the race,” said Smith. “I know I have the speed, I’ll just be focusing on trying to minimize the mistakes and we can be right there again.”

The KTM Junior Supercross Challenge riders showed off the TLD Youth GP Quest gear as they took to the track in front of thousands of fans. The front two riders of Emile Lacher and Drew Adams battled the entire three laps and as it came down to the wire, it was Adams who took the win. Rounding out the podium was Dannyn Reed.
The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM team heads to the Great White North and the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada for the lone international stop of the circuit.

Smith and Martin were wearing the SE Air Phantom White and Black Racewear during practice and then switched to the GP Tremor White and Black Racewear for the night races. The SE4 Twilight Black and White Helmet complemented the gear. See all of the 2017 gear sets and the 2017 Moto Helmets online and at your local TLD retailer.
