Round 8 – WORCS – May 22, 2017

FMF KTM Factory Racing Team’s Taylor Robert made his return to the World Off-Road Championship Series (WORCS) on Sunday with a big victory in the Pro class, while FMF/Maxxis/RPM KTM Racing Team’s Eric Yorba finished a close 2nd to make for a successful day of racing for the orange brand.

Robert, who won the first two rounds of the series before an injury kept him out of the next four, made it three-for-three with victories on the season.

While the raceday saw perfect temperatures and a slight breeze in the air, Sunday’s track conditions were a little on the dry and dusty side for racers. The Iron Mine Race Park presented plenty of high speed terrain, mixed with a small endurocross section, a motocross track and a few single track sections.

Robert shot off the line to capture the holeshot aboard his KTM 450 XC-F and the Arizona native never looked back, leading from start to finish of the nearly two-hour race.

Robert: “It was an awesome way to jump back into the WORCS. I got the holeshot and never looked back. The track was super-fast which I usually don’t like but we had a really good bike setup which made the race more fun.”

KTM-mounted Yorba held tough to capture a 2nd place finish in the Pro class, earning his first podium finish of the season at Round 8. Additionally, it was a KTM sweep in the Pro 2 class as Dante Oliveira topped the class, followed by Kyle Mercier (KTM) and Alex Dorsey (KTM) atop the podium.
