Monster Energy AUS-X Open Sydney is excited to confirm renowned international track builder Jason Baker from Dream Traxx has been contracted to assist with development of the 2017 circuit.

A leading force in the design and construction of motocross and supercross tracks across the globe, the number one goal, is to ensure the best possible battlefield for riders to showcase their wears at Qudos Bank Arena on November 11 and 12.

In conjunction with this is also the announcement of Komatsu Australia coming on board for the third year in a row as the official heavy machinery supplier for this year’s event.

As it did in 2016, the AUS-X Open circuit will include elements that are unique to any other current supercross event in the world, including the use of steel Freestyle Motocross (FMX) competition ramps which sees riders catapulted towards the stadium ceiling.

The addition of the AUS-X Open back of house, custom made ‘tunnel’ not only extends the racing surface by over 100m, but provides some of the best passing opportunities upon re-entry into the stadium arena, also the only event in the world that currently does so.

With the help of Komatsu, approximately 5,000 tonnes of dirt and material will be bought in to cover the 4000m2 floor space, using PC138 excavators and WA250 and WA350 wheel loaders to transform the bare canvas of inside of Australia’s most prestigious indoor arena into a finely constructed work of art.

Jason Baker’s role within the AUS-X Open team is to assist with the design and build of fresh and innovative obstacles and ideas, designed to test the best two wheeled athletes on the planet.

Monster Energy AUS-X Open Sydney Co-Founder and Director Adam Bailey believes that the single most important focus for the event is the entertainment factor, which he feels Dream Traxx will assist in providing this year.

“We’re really proud of some of the innovations we’ve been able to bring to the competition surface already thanks to our track crew. The purpose of using freestyle ramps as a means to shoot riders higher into the air than ever before and building a tunnel that races through the venues storage rooms and (literally) past the kitchen are all means to make the show as exciting and dynamic as possible. We’re confident that by adding some of Jason’s fresh ideas to the mix, the racing will be even closer and more incredible to watch than ever,” Bailey said.

“Moving and shaping upwards of 5,000 tonne of dirt overnight into Qudos Bank Arena and then out again is no mean feat. We’re incredibly appreciative of our crew and the support of Komatsu, to give us the best heavy machinery for the job,” commented Bailey.

The Monster Energy AUS-X Open Sydney is one of the largest Supercross, Freestyle Motocross and Action Sports events in the world, this year with one million dollars up for grabs to any fan who purchases tickets to both days of the event on November 11 and 12, in one of the richest prizes ever offered to Australian sports attendees.
