After having what looked like a decent day during qualifying at the 2017 Motocross of Nations, Team USA’s Sunday was arguably their worst Sunday in the nations MXoN history. Other than Zach Osborne’s 10-3 scores, Cole Seely had two shock failures that led him to two DNF’s and we are now hearing why Thomas Covington struggled all day as well with a dismal 22-17 scorecard.

Thomas revealed today from Instagram that he tore his ACL in an incident during the qualifying race on Saturday. “Some bad news this morning guys,” Thomas said from his @Thomasc64 Instagram account. “I’ve just left the doctor and found out I tore my ACL in the qualification race Saturday in England. I had quite a bit of pain Sunday but didn’t want to accept it. Only wanted to focus on getting USA to the podium. I’ll be having surgery tomorrow morning and starting recovery as soon as possible to be ready for the 2018 season!”

If you haven’t torn an ACL before, let me be the first to tell you it is one of the most painful injuries to try and ride through. We would like to say thank you to Thomas for trying to ride through the pain for the team and wish him a speedy recovery.
