The anticipation was high for today’s 2017 Red Bull Straight Rhythm Two-Stroke Shootout featuring Chad Reed and Ryan Villopoto, but unfortunately, we are now reading that Reedy injured himself while practicing at the event and will have to sit this one out.

“Sometimes things don’t make sense,” Chad Reed said from his @CRTwoTwo Instagram account. “But you just roll with the punches and take the positives from it. The Redbull Straight rhythm on a 2stroke had me so damn excited. I’m so disappointed I’m unable to participate today. So many people played such a massive role in pulling this project off for me. Can’t thank @pcoater_shane enough. Without him zero chance this was possible. Dan Truman thanks for being there and having my back at whatever needs to be handled. You have no understanding of the word hesitation! Whatever’s possible or damn near impossible you just get err done. I slightly over jumped into the next transition. Nothing un normal but my suspension went metal to metal and I hurt my ankle. I’m seeing an ankle specialist this morning. Will update when I have more info and a plan of action 2️⃣2️⃣.”

There is never a good time for an injury, but with Chad still not signed on with a team for 2018, there is not a worse time. Let’s hope this is just a minor setback for 35 year-old former champion and we see him back on the bike soon. We wish Reedy a speedy recovery, and we will bring you more updates when we get them.
