Once again, Shane McElrath sneaks into Anaheim 1 under the radar, and once again he dips out of Angel Stadium with the biggest trophy and the red plate on his Troy Lee Designs / KTM. From now on my nickname for Shane is “Silent Assassin” because nobody ever see’s the guy from West Canton, NC coming.

All week long leading up to the opening round of the 2018 Western Regional 250SX Championship, we had been talking a lot about the bigger names like Justin Hill, Adam Cianciarulo, Joey Savatgy, Aaron Plessinger and Christian Craig, and the quiet country boy snuck in to lead every lap of every gate drop on Saturday night. The #28 went right to the front in both his heat race and the main event and simply pulled a disappearing act on the field to win his second straight A1 and set the pace for 2018.

After his dominant performance on Saturday night, we spent five minutes with Shane to talk about Déjà vu in Anaheim and how he feels about being overlooked by the pundits in SX. Click play to hear what the back-to-back A1 winner had to say.
