Minneapolis, MN (April 14, 2018) – GEICO Honda’s Jeremy Martin continued his surge through Monster Energy Supercross, taking his second-straight race win, this time in front of a vocal group of home-state fans inside U.S. Bank Stadium. Despite a blizzard outside, a sizable crowd still showed up, and as Martin eyed the win in the Triple Crown format, they responded by getting louder. Ultimately, Martin went 3-3-1 in his three races to emerge the overall winner, with a clutch ride in the third race to hold off series’ leader Zach Osborne, proving again that Martin is a true threat.
“I just kept grinding and kept working,” said Martin of his recent supercross improvements. “We got the bike a lot better. We’re figuring some stuff out and it’s really showing here. It gets a little frustrating when people say I can’t rider supercross. A lot of people say I can’t ride supercross, but all I got to say is you can put that in your pipe and smoke it!”
Martin is now up to third in points, 16 behind Osborne.
Beyond the series implications, though, this one was special because it came in front of Martin’s Minnesota faithful.
“Yeah, for sure. I was pretty excited obviously that I wo the home race,” said Martin. “To win in front of the hometown crowd, I was kind of going a little nuts after the race. It’s an opportunity of a lifetime to be able to race here, and to get the win was unreal. I wear earplugs when I moto, so I could hear them [the crowd] through the earplugs and over my dirt bike, so I was like, my God, it was loud.”
Martin was the lone GEICO Honda 250 rider competing in Minneapolis, but the full squad, including the injured Cameron McAdoo and RJ Hampshire, and 250SX West rider Chase Sexton, attended the race to visit team sponsor Amsoil, based in Minnesota. Also, Christian Craig continued to ride the 450SX class for Honda HRC. He went 14-10-9 for 11th in the 450SX class.
McAdoo recently injured his scapula in a practice crash while trying to return from a broken hand. He hopes to return a few races into the upcoming pro motocross championship. Hampshire, recovering from back and lung injuries suffered at the Daytona Supercross, has resumed riding and will be back for the pro motocross opener next month in Sacramento.
