Tonight’s race in Vegas is coming to a boiling point both literally and figuratively—it’s hot in Vegas). All eyes are on Jason Anderson and it looks like he is feeling the pressure. In the untimed session, I watched him over jump the triple, finish line and the over under tabletop on the same lap. I don’t remember him ever looking this stiff on the bike.

Marvin is deceptively fast on hard packed. While Tomac looked like the fastest rider in qualifying, Marvin was the one with the fastest lap.

Meanwhile, Marvin Musquin looks to be the epitome of relaxed. The same triple Anderson over jumped Marvin threw a heel clicker. It seems like a forgone conclusion that Anderson could cruise to a finish of 10th or better—what he needs to clinch the title—but he looks stressed out. At one point in the first qualifying session Anderson made a mistake and almost took out Malcolm Stewart. Malcom was less than pleased and let Anderson know as much with a stuff job on the following lap. The last thing Anderson needs tonight is drama with Malcom. Meanwhile Eli Tomac went lighting fast all day! Crazy that Eli is the winningest Supercross racer of the last two seasons and isn’t even close to being Supercross Champion in 2018.

If Jordon Smith wins the main, Zach will need a 12th to lock down title.

In the 250 class both Zach Osborne and Aaron Plessinger are looking to close out their regional championships. Zach has a 15 point lead in the East and Aaron has a 13 Point lead in the West and with the final round combining both regions we are poised for some drama. Let’s not forget Pro Circuit Kawasaki has no love lost for Osborne, he will need to have his head on a swivel tonight.

AP looked as loose as he ever has in qualifying.

While Aaron Plessinger doesn’t have the enemies Zach does, this is for a Championship so pretty much anything goes. The track is tailor made for block passing so look for drama and hard feelings before the evening is over. Adam Cianciarulo continues his streak of fast qualifying times. He hasn’t won yet this year, but I expect that to change tonight.
