Both Riders In Top 10 Season Points
May 7, 2018 – Livingston, CA – The 51FIFTY Energy Drink Yamaha Race Team came to Las Vegas with it’s best season to date and looked to finish the season on high note in the last round, an East/West. On a day when the team riders posted some of their best qualifying and ‘heat’ races, the overall results were uncharacteristic; it was Hayden Mellross in 10thKyle Chisholm in 13th.   The team did accomplish a season goal and we’re proud of Chiz and Mellross, and the entire staff, as both riders finished in the Top 10 season points.
The two (2) 51FIFTY Energy Drink Yamaha riders had stellar qualifying sessions clocking 5th (Chisholm) and 7th (Mellross) in the 250 West practice. The blue duo adapted quickly to the hard packed track and brought their morning momentum to the night show.
Chisholm and Mellross rocketed off the gate in the 250 West Heat Race (basically a ‘Main Event’) and established themselves up front early. The teammates piloted their Yamaha YZ250Fs to 5th and 6th position at the checkers and solidified their place in the East / West Showdown.
Both 51FIFTY Energy Drink racers struggled during the start of the 250 Main Event but immediately began making passes as racing got underway. Chisholm made his way up inside the Top 10 and was easy to spot in his bright pink Shot Racing Gear. Mellross was in tow, moving through the field in hopes of regaining valuable championship points. Another rider jumped into Chisholm on the final lap, final corner, putting both riders on the ground and outside the Top 10. Mellross capitalized on the chaos and crossed the line in 10th while Chisholm remounted for 13th.

Kyle Chisholm #11 – 13thPlace – 7th Place Points
Hayden Mellross #63 – 10th Place – 10th Place Points
There’s a lot of positives to take away from tonight,” Chisholm said after the race. “I qualified really well and kept that momentum going in the Heat Races as well. In the Main I felt like I was riding great, making passes on some fast guys, but unfortunately got taken out there in the last corner. I guess that’s racing, and I’m glad it didn’t put me out of the series points. This is my second season back on the 250 and I’m stoked to finish out the year in 7th. Big thanks to the 51FIFTY Energy Drink Yamaha Team and all of those who make it possible.
Ending the season with a Top 10 is huge for me,” said Mellross. “I really liked the track today and felt like I was on it during practice and qualifying. Chiz and I put the 51FIFTY Energy Drink Yamaha YZ’s back to back in qualifying and the Heat which was super cool and I was able to come through the pack pretty well in the Main. I knew I had to be up there to get the Top 10 overall in points so I kept my head down and kept charging. Another solid year with the team and happy to end it on a high note.
