Shane McElrath is probably the most underrated talent in Motocross and Supercross, but I think that title is beginning to fade away. In Supercross the Troy Lee Designs / Red Bull / KTM rider has been winning races and has been in the title hunt for the last two seasons now, but as of 2018 he is now a threat both indoors and out.

Shane showed that at Muddy Creek with his first-ever overall win at an outdoor national, but with a 3-2 score he still needed to show he could win a moto outright. Well, he finally checked that accomplishment of his to-do list at Washougal over the weekend by straight up passing the points leader, Aaron Plessiinger, and running away from him for the moto two win.

Shane is becoming a podium fixture at both SX and MX.

Unfortunately for Shane he finished 9th in the opening moto of the day, but his 9-1 was still enough for 2nd overall on the day. With his 2nd overall at Washougal, Shane moved up to 4th in the 250MX standings, 16 points behind Justin Cooper up in 3rd.

After the Washoougal National was in books, I caught up with the #28 and we talked about his 2nd place finish. Click play to hear what Shane told us about Washougal and more.
