Heading into today’s 2018 Budds Creek NationaL Monster Energy / Star Racing / Yamaha’s Aaron Plessinger needed to outscore Troy Lee Designs / KTM’s Alex Martin by three points in the opening moto to clinch his first-ever 250 AMA Motocross National Championship. In the opening moto Aaron grabbed the holeshot and went wire-to-wire for the win, while A-Mart got a bad start and was only able to salvage a 9th place finish.
With that, Aaron can now begin to celebrate a double championship year. Earlier in the year the #23 won the Western Regional 250SX Championship, and he now can call himself the 2018 250MX AMA National Champion. We will unfortunately never see Aaron running the #1 plates on his 250, though. It is rumored that he will graduate from the 250 class and join Justin Barcia next year in the Factory Yamaha rig on a 450 full-time.
Congrats to Aaron on his incredible year.
