Coming into the 2018 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, all the talk in the 250MX class was about the defending 2017 Champ, Zach Osborne, going up against the former two-time Champ Jeremy Martin for the title. Aaron Plessinger—after winning the 2018 Western Regional 250SX Championship—was in the conversation, but with his inconsistency over the years, he was more of an outside chance guy. He was definitely not considered a favorite.

At round one, it looked like the pre-season predictions of the season being the Osborne/Martin show were spot on with Osborne and Martin going 1-2 and Plessinger finishing 3rd, but at round two Plessinger went out and threw down a perfect 1-1, moving into a tie at the top of the points and quickly inserted his name into the top of the conversation.

Over the next two rounds, the series lost both Osborne and Martin to season-ending injuries, and AP took the ball and ran away from the field with it. While he was still inconsistent at times, his bad days looked a whole lot better than they did in years past. That was the difference maker in 2018, and with that, Aaron was crowned the 2018 AMA 250 National Champion three motos early over the weekend at Budds Creek.

After the Championship podium celebration was over, MotoXAddicts’ Chase Yocom caught up with AP to talk to him about his title, his year and more.
