MECHANICSVILLE, Md. – Round 11 of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship took place on Saturday at Budds Creek Motocross in Mechanicsville, Maryland and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Marvin Musquin battled to an overall podium finish in the 450MX Class as he continues to battle for the title with one round remaining in the series.

Musquin qualified second overall for the day, setting himself up for a favorable position heading into Moto 1. He carried that momentum well as he powered his KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION to the holeshot and early lead. He dropped into second on the opening lap and battled for the lead for a majority of the race. He then upped the pressure on the leader as they diced it out in the final laps. Musquin made several attempts to pass into the lead but with two laps to go, he made a mistake that dropped him off the pace of the leader, where he ultimately finished second.

In Moto 2, Musquin got off to another great start as he charged his way into the lead on the opening lap. He led the first five laps before engaging in a battle for second place, where he dropped back a couple positions later in the race. Musquin fought hard in the closing laps to ultimately finish fourth in Moto 2 and third overall for the day.

Musquin: “Today I had great starts – the first moto I got into the lead on the first lap and I just couldn’t get it back. I was fighting for it all the way until the last two laps. It was close but I couldn’t get it. In the second moto, I was up there and it was good, but unfortunately towards the end, physically, it was really tough and I could only get fourth in that moto and third overall for the day. One more round to go, I am looking forward to fighting hard.”

Rocky Mountain ATV/MC – WPS – KTM’s Blake Baggett put forth an impressive performance in Moto 2 to charge his way up to second-place. With 5-2 moto finishes, Baggett earned fourth overall for the day. His teammate, Benny Bloss, finished eighth overall with 9-8 finishes.
