At the end of the 2017 season, Monster Energy / Yamaha’s Justin Barcia was contemplating calling it a career and announcing his retiring. The man they call BamBam—a fan favorite for his aggressive style and racecraft—was becoming just another 10th place guy in the 450 class.

With no offers from factory teams at the end of ’17, Justin was left with that question most former elite level 450 guys eventually have to ask themselves: Do I go load up my truck and go racing on my own dime, or do I hang up the boots and move on to the next chapter of my life? We now know what Justin chose to do and after signing a multi-year deal with factory Yamaha and capping off his 2018 season with a 1-1 at Ironman, we’d say he made all the right decisions.

After Justin’s 1-1 at the season finale on Saturday, MotoXAddicts’ Chase Yocom caught up with the justifiably excited Justin Barcia in the pits.
