We have seen the videos, the AMA National highlight reels, but I am not sure we can even write how good this place looks. Redbud next weekend will show the World all about American motocross. A beautiful facility, and the best riders from America and the rest of the World.

We all await the Herlings vs Tomac battle, the Plessinger vs Prado, and of course Team France trying to hold onto the Chamberlain trophy against the likes of USA, Belgium, Holland and Great Britain.

One of the most storied tracks in the history of American pro motocross, RedBud will add to its legacy this October when it becomes only the fourth venue in the United States to host the FIM Monster Energy Motocross of Nations since its inception in 1947.

As the halfway point of each season, RedBud is the centerpiece of the American Motocross Championship series, and also serves as a perennial Independence Day celebration, motocross style.  It has been a part of the championship since 1974 and thanks to an incredibly dynamic track layout and a diehard fan base, it has become arguably the most popular and most anticipated round of the summer.

Jared Conley shot these cool images from the Redbud circuit.

In many ways RedBud epitomizes what American motocross represents, and is a bucket list destination for any fan. RedBud fans are knowledgeable and passionate about their motocross.

They show their love of the sport and appreciation for the racers with patriotic costumes, energetic cheers and the well-known chants of “ReeeddddBuuuuddddd”!

Adding motocross fans from around the U.S. to the RedBud faithful will surely create a fan base Uncle Sam himself would applaud, and a formidable home team advantage when the Americans come to RedBud to take on the world at the 2018 MXoN event.

It began in Belgium in 1947. Just two years post WWII, a friendly competition of a popular sport among European neighbors must have been something special. The quick summary of the event is that it’s open to all countries, each sending a 3-rider team to compete.

After the Saturday qualifying is complete, the final Sunday competition is narrowed down to the top 20 teams, and three final motos. Each of the three riders competes in two separate motos, adding up to six moto scores for each country.

The best combined score wins. Thirty-eight countries competed at the 2017 event held at the historic Matterley Basin circuit in Winchester, U.K. The event has a very olympic vibe, with uber-patriotic fans donning their country’s colors, waving flags and proudly supporting their home team.
