Australian Supercross transplant Cody Mackie looks to be continuing his push to make a name for himself in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series with the backing of Jeff Ward Racing. With Josh Grant’s return to racing not yet decided, the Jeff Ward Racing team signed the #333 to ride the JWR Kawasaki 450 in the Supercross Class for at least the next two rounds in San Diego and Dallas.

The #333 will stay under the Jeff Ward Racing tent for at least two more rounds.

Cody started the year as a privateer on a Honda and, while he was improving with every round, had missed the Main Event in his first three attempts. Before round four in Oakland, Cody got the call from the Jeff Ward Racing squad and was signed to be a temporary fill-in for the injured Josh Grant. In his first attempt on the new bike, he impressed by making the Main and finishing a solid sixteenth in the Main Event. Cody tried to back that up in Anaheim last weekend, but a mistake while in a solid transfer spot in his heat race sent the Australian to the LCQ where, with James Stewart on the line, there was really only one spot left in the Main Event. Cody ended up fourth in the LCQ, but obviously still impressed Wardy enough to get at least two more chances with the team.

We are told at this point that any support from JWR after Dallas is still undecided, but there is a chance for another extension. We at MotoXAddicts love the kid’s style and wish him the best in the coming weeks.
