The SERCO Yamaha Metal Mulisha Racing team will enter round two of the 2012 MX Nationals this weekend at Coonabarabran! With both Styke and Gibbs determination to win, they both look to make another repeat appearance on the podium after last weeks battle in the MX2 class at the opening round of championship held at Green Park Conondale. Kirk Gibbs had to endure plenty of discomfort on his way to a 1st place victory last round as he was dealing with a hand injury that required ongoing medical attention throughout the event. The two week break has allowed more recovery time for Gibbs, and he heads into the Coonabarabran event with some seat time and strength go fight his way upfront.

“While it’s still not 100% and I’ve had to manage it between the rounds, I was at least able to get some bike time in and resume my full off bike training again. I was able to be consistent at the opening round and I think that is going to be the key to winning this championship with so many capable of winning races,” — Gibbs.

Luke Styke surprised many with his spirited racing at the opening round and a 3rd place finish for the day was a good reward for his efforts. Styke proved he has what it takes to run up the front in the competitive MX2 class and now needs to continue his good form throughout the series.

“Round one was a good start for me and it has set a level I want to race at each and every weekend. I know I have the bike, team and done the hard work to continue getting top results so it’s now up to me to ensure I get it done on the race track and make the most of every race.” — Styke
