The 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship was in full effect last weekend for round two at the Freestone National in Wortham, Texas. We all had our questions coming into this round after the exciting Hangtown opener—mainly, can Ryan Dungey beat James Stewart and can anyone stop Blake Baggett? Leaving Freestone some questions were answered and more were created, but one thing is for sure: we are in for a great year of racing.
Yoshimura/Suzuki’s James Stewart once again edged out the Redbull KTM rider Ryan Dungey in both motos for a 1-1 finish. The two former champions were in a league of their own in the premier class. In the 250 class, it was all Eli Tomac, who was in his own happy place in both motos, going 1-1 aboard his Factory Connection/GEICO Honda and stopping Monster/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Blake Baggett in his tracks.
Stewart and Tomac clocked in the fastest laps of the day, but surprisingly, it was Tomac with the best time (2:04.067), Blake Baggett with the second best (2:04.141) and Stewart with third best overall time(2:04.380). Eli also ended up with the fastest average lap time of the day, 2:06.080 in the first 250 moto in comparison to James’ 2:06.246 in moto 1 of the 450 class. Outside of the match up between Stewart and Tomac, there was plenty of action throughout the day, so be sure to check out the full charts to see how the rest of the field matched up.
On the left of each graph, you will notice the lap times and the numbers on the bottom signifying each lap. Below that, we have the top five riders in the order they finished and each lap time from the Main Event after their name. Also, note that each rider’s fastest lap is shaded in blue.
