Yoshimura/Suzuki’s James Stewart showed up at round four of the 2012 Lucas Oil Motocross Championship at High Point hoping his injured hand–due to his crash at Thunder Valley–was in good enough shape to race two motos. The day started off slow with James finishing with the eleventh fastest time in the first qualifying session, but by the end of the final session, he had laid down the fastest time of the day.
After qualifying first, hopes were high heading into moto one. Unfortunately, the #7 got a bad start and had to work harder in moto one than he probably wanted to. James rode a solid race and passed his way up to finish fifth, but after moto one, he was complaining that his hand was still in bad shape. He went on to say that, at times, he could barely hold on. With that in mind, James and his team decided it was best in the long run to sit out moto two. This will no doubt end James’ 2012 Motocross Championship hopes. Check out the updated points >
James tweeted updates after the race from his Twitter account.
Gave it all I had 2day but I couldn’t hold on anymore. I’m actually surprise I made it thru the 1st moto but I had to try. I tried my best..

But at the end I just couldn’t do it anymore. I really wanna thank my team & fans for being there thru these couple of weeks.

It’s not what we wanted but after 6 laps of the 1st moto I knew I was in trouble when I was trying to hang on with one arm. That’s no fun

But we’ll see how this week plays out but I will come back when I’m ready to race. I had to try & I did so I’m ok with the results.
