The opening round of the 2012 Monster Energy Supercross, an FIM World Championship Series, is in the books, and if it was a preview of what’s to come in 2013, we are in for a crazy ride. The anticipation and unknown factors that come with the opening round of supercross season always produce high intensity and a few surprises. This year, Anaheim 1 had a lot of both. In the main events, we saw the man with the red #1 plate, Eli Tomac, start his title defense with a dominant win in the 250SX class, and in the 450SX class, we were all surprised with an incredible battle between Davi Millsaps and Trey Canard. In the end, Canard stole the lead with four laps to go, but Millsaps dug deep and managed a last lap pass for the first win of 2013.

In the speed department, there were very few surprises early in the day with James Stewart and Ryan Villopoto setting the fastest laps in qualifying. In the night show, though, neither were a factor for the fastest lap or the win. In fact, the fastest laps of the night were turned by Tomac on the 250. Tomac threw down a 55.275 early in the 250SX main event while sprinting away from Roczen (56.912 fast lap), and the closest that anyone could get to that was when Canard pulled a 55.849 in the 450SX main event. Tomac’s speed was insanely fast, and after building a ten-second gap, he cruised the final four laps of the main.

Check out the lap charts below to see how both Main Events played out plus how the 250SX Class and 450SX Class stacked up against each other.

On the left of each graph, you will notice the lap times and the numbers on the bottom signifying each lap. Below that, we have the top five riders in the order they finished and each lap time from the main event after their name. Also, note that each rider’s fastest lap is shaded in blue.
