Carlsbad, Calif. (January 21, 2013) — Killy Rusk was the lone rider with Team Rockwell/FirePoliceMX Saturday as Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, returned to Angel Stadium for round three.

In the first timed B practice, Rusk finished the session with a top-five time and three dislocated fingers. He would return for the final practice of the day having iced his hand and popped his fingers back into place. The injury didn’t seem to affect his riding, as he would end the session with a second-place time, qualifying 22nd overall for his third straight night program this season.
In the first 250SX heat race, Rusk lined up his (#66) Honda on the inside gate. With a decent jump off the start, he hugged the inside tuff blocks and rounded turn one in about fifth position. As he exited turn one however, his line crossed with Austin Politelli. Politelli would stay up, but Rusk was sent flying into a group of other riders and went down. He would finish the race in 17th with another bad gate pick for the LCQ, where he was unable to secure a transfer position to the main.

Rusk will look to regroup in Oakland this Saturday Jan. 26, where in 2012 he started his run of six straight main events, finishing the West series in the top 20. Remember to stop by the Rockwell/FirePoliceMX tent from 12:30 – 5:30 p.m. on race day to show your support for the team.
We are also looking for rider memorabilia donations for an eBay auction to benefit children at Loma Linda Medical Center. Proceeds from the auction will go towards filling toy wish lists for the annual Big Air Kid’s Fair, which has been postponed due to a flu outbreak. Updated information will be reported as it becomes available. Items to be auctioned currently include a pair of signed Mike Alessi JT Racing pants and Chris Blose jerseys. If you are interested in contributing, please contact Ed Wilson at ed@firepolicemx.com.
