The Red Bull/KTM team is having yet another banner year in the 2013 Monster Energy Supercross series. They are currently first, second and third in the three AMA SX Championships with an outside chance still at sweeping all three of the Championships in 2013. In the 450SX, they currently have one win in 2013, and Ryan Dungey sits third in the points. In the 250SX Western Regional Championship, they are leading the championship by seventeen points with their German import, Ken Roczen, and in the Eastern Regional Championship, they are now celebrating their second-straight win with Marvin Musquin. After Marvin’s second win in Indianapolis, he is now in second, just nine points behind Wil Hahn.
In Indianapolis last on Saturday night, their may have been a little extra pressure on the squad with the ten-time Motocross World Champion and team manager of the European Red Bull/KTM team, Stefan Everts, in the house. Stefan made a special trip to the States this week, not to support the big boys under the Red Bull/KTM tent, but instead to support his son Liam Everts. Liam was in the house to race the KTM Jr SX Challenge, and it had to be a thrill for his pops—who is a second-generation World Champion himself. What made it even more special was that Harry Everts, Stefan’s dad and Liam’s grandpa, was also on hand to see his grandson race. In the end, Liam finished second behind Jordan Biese. How cool must it be for Jordan to say he beat the son of the best European motocross rider of all time?
After the racing was over in Indianapolis, MotoXAddicts’ Chase Yocom caught up with Stefan to talk to the legend about his visit to Indianapolis, the KTM push in America, his Red Bull/KTM team in Europe and the controversial new Super-final format in the GP’s.
