The 2014 San Diego Supercross and round number six of the 2014 Monster Energy Supercross series is in our rear-view mirror, and we were once again treated to an incredible night of racing. In the 450 class, we saw Yoshimura/Suzuki’s, James Stewart reemerge as a Championship threat with his first win of 2014. The former two-time 450SX Champion grabbed a 2nd place start, quickly went to work on Monster Energy/Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto for the lead and, once on top, lead all twenty laps. Stewart was under pressure from the #1 for much of the main event, but the Suzuki hung tough to grab his 46th career 450SX main event win. Behind Stewy, Villopoto and Red Bull/KTM’s Ken Roczen occupied the final two spots on the podium.

In the 250SX class, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Dean Wilson looked poised to make it two in a row, but the #15 crashed out and handed the lead to his rookie teammate Justin Hill. While the rookie wasn’t the fastest man on the night, his consistency was unstoppable in San Diego. The #35 pounded out the laps, never straying more than a second off his fastest lap for the entirety of the fifteen-lap main. In the end, Hill was able to pull away from Rockstar Energy/KTM’s Jason Anderson and Troy Lee Designs/Honda’s Malcolm Stewart to score his first ever SX win. Behind Hill, Anderson stretched his lead in the Championship with a solid second place finish and Stewart secured his second podium finish of the year.

In the lap time battle, it was James Stewart throwing down a 47.228 lap time and showing he can still be the fastest man on the planet at times. The San Diego SX circuit was one of the most technical tracks of the year so far, and it seemed to suit the #7 better than anyone. James was followed closely in the lap time battle by Ken Roczen who registered a 47.301.

The fastest 250SX rider was once again Dean Wilson with a 47.876 in San Diego. The Kawasaki rider was second fastest in day qualifying to Jason Anderson, but the two swapped the top spot in the main, with Anderson laying down a 47.976. The winner of the main event, Hill, recorded the third fastest lap of the night with a 48.092.

We added a 6th rider, Chad Reed, to the top-5 450SX graph because of some fan requests to see how Reedy matched up before his crash.
