After reporting a fractured T1, scapula and even tweeting a picture of his broken collarbone X-ray less than a week ago, Chad Reed is at AT&T Stadium and prepared to line up for round seven of the 2014 Monster Energy Supercross, an FIM World Championship. Most were skeptical about the former two-time 450SX Champion lining up tonight, but the Discount Tire Racing’s Kawasaki has officially gone through tech-inspection this morning and all things look to be a go.

How will Reed do tonight? That, my friends, is the million dollar question, and it can only be answered by Chad Reed. I think it all comes down to his level of pain and his starts. I think it will be a lot easier to soldier through the pain he’ll be going through if he can pull some decent starts, and it will be huge if Chad can qualify directly through the heat race. The last thing Chad needs tonight is extra track time heading into the main event.

No matter what happens tonight, hats off to Reed and his warrior effort to stay relevant in the 2014 450SX Championship. Win, lose or DNF, this is definitely another awesome chapter in an already legendary career. The #22 is in third place in the Championship, just fifteen points behind Monster/Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto in the points. Update: Chad tried to tough it out and qualify, but the pain appeared to be too much. After two laps of qualifying, Chad pulled off but can race tonight if he chooses. While the provisional rule is gone for the main event, the top-ten in the points transfer directly through to the night show.

Update: We are now hearing that Chad’s shoulder is just too messed up to race tonight. He is now saying he will take the six weeks off that are required to heal up. We hope to see the tough Australian back and healthy before the SX season concludes in Las Vegas.
