The Alessi family is known for stirring things up off the track, but at tonight’s Atlanta Supercross, MotoConcepts’ Mike Alessi brought it onto the track. In the 450SX heat race, RCH/Suzuki’s Broc Tickle passed Mike on the final lap and, one turn later, was repaid with an attempt by Alessi to put him into the front row of the stands. It was far from a legit pass attempt and fell more under the description of takeout. Both riders went down, and after reviewing the tape, we now hear the AMA levied a $4000 fine and probation for the remainder of the season for the #800.

Fortunately for Mike, he went on to have his best main event of the year—finishing a very solid 6th—so he did have something to smile about. Overall, though, drama like this the last thing the Alessi family and the MotoConcepts team needed after the crazy incident at the 2013 Washougal National. It also did not help that it was against the RCH/Suzuki team which is partly owned by the entertainer Pink—who sent out a tweet about it to her 22.4 million followers. We’ve always liked Mike, but for some reason this stuff seems to follow him around.
Update: Statement released today (2/24/2014) by the AMA:
“After a review of the incident that took place between rider Mike Alessi and rider Broc Tickle in the 450SX heat race, the race director determined that Alessi violated rule A2, c. 17 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, rulebook. As a result of this violation, the race director assessed Alessi a penalty of $4,000 and placed him on probation for the remainder of the 2014 season. There was no appeal.”
You can check out the tweets sent out by RCH manager, Kenny Watson, RCH co-owner, Carey Hart, and Pink, as well as video of the incident below.
I guess if I was as slow as Alessi I’d have to take people out too.

decision is a $4000 fine for Mike alasie not happy about the decision but we will except it and move on

The #AMA should be embarrassed on their job of enforcing race rules. You allow @malessi800 to race after what he did? #AMA is a joke.

good…fine away….when are you gonna grow up Mike…I was so friggin happy for you when you won your heat race a few weeks back…but you really need to wake up!!!! Perhaps you should start hanging around people with kind mature character…even if it means leaving your team and being a privateer….you keep playing in ‘your’ circle and you will NEVER change…..what it takes to get to be one of top riders in the world is also the work and dedication you need to put into practice on your own personality and character…you may not get this now….but you will have to …or you can wait till you’re old and grey and on your way out of this world…and then start your confessions. Wake up!!!!! You can change!
I dont think the Alessi move was a good one but the ama should have also fined Barcia for his bonehead move on Roczen over the triple last week. Barcia clearly tried to take him out in mid air and that was far more dangerous than the Alessi move. Had Roczen gone down it could have ended his season or worse. Alessi got the fine because of the things his family has done in the past and because Tickle is Carmichael’s boy not for the takeout move. Barcia has taken way more people down then Alessi ever has. Barcia takes out his own teammates. Thats stupidity at its finest.
Barcia should have been fined and suspended many times over. The AMA officials are a bunch of pansies. The move Barcia pulled on Roczen is unacceptable. Just remember AMA when someone is seriously hurt or worse by these clowns you are just as responsible as they are.
I do not believe that Barcia’s move on Roczen was a take out move at all. It was more about in your face kind of thing and yes it was stupid and dangerous. Alessi was fined because of his move taking Tickle out not because of who Broc races for. It was a plain takeout move intended from the time that he got passed by Tickle! Alessi broke the rules and got busted… I do not think he got hit hard enough by the AMA but he did get fined and is on probation. As far as Bam Bam is concerned the riders he’s put down or had run in’s with wasn’t the same as what Mike did to Broc but they should be looked into and handled appropriately. However the AMA has been known for a long time to not enforce the rules the way they should be so don’t hold your breath!
Couldn’t agree more with Cory. Alessi is a dirty rider and he and his family should have been kicked out of the sport a long time ago, but Barcia is the poster boy for dirty riding and should have been disciplined a long time ago.
What the AMA is failing to do, Karma is!… Just check his results this year.
Update the results to today and you are still correct. Karma!
Just like Ricky said he’s not riding to his full potential because of the decisions he has made. I’ve always liked mike, even throughout the Washougal bull but this was just completely uncalled for. He was no doubt out of line.
Haha, thats the nicest way Ricky could put it. Anything else he would of said would of gotten him fired. Notice the 5 minutes of Ricky absence when the incident happened. He was giving the go ahead on the Alessi Green Light (hit). 🙂
I noticed his absence, kinda figured he was checking on his rider and going to the officials.
…oh and Mike….don’t think that when you leave, or get kindly fired from your team that you’re all fine….you will need to work on it! Run the race of your character! It may take a few seasons…and you’re good at starting things….THINK ABOUT IT. ah…this is probably over your head.
Ryan….enough of this touchy-feely crap….what he needs is someone like Tickle to throw caution to the wind and when something this egregious happens, get up, dust yourself off, rip that sonofabitch off his bike and KINDLY stomp a mudhols in his ass and then kick it dry…maybe THAT will wake him up and allow a LITTLE of humility to “creep” into his world…this guy is and always has been a top shelf prick.
Clean pass by tickle. I do not understand Mike’s retaliation. He usually starts in front so the better 450 riders will have all the chances in the world to show him they will not tolerate his carp dirty antics. All he did in the 2013 SX season was get a good start and hold up the pack while Villopoto ran away from them. Feel sorry for Tickle. I think with his qualifying time and the way he was riding he should have had a good main event finish. TAKE ALESSI OUT BOYS!!!
Guys i honestly think it might have been a mistake. Alessi isnt the brightest bulb. If you look at it from the back angle it looks like hes trying to get into the inside rut and make a move in the next corner. But he didnt have the angle and the back end didnt slide in like he wanted it too. Im not a fan of alessi, i was happy for his heat win and his other short run successes. But i think this one was an honest mistake by alessi trying to be to aggressive and not using patience to make it in a couple corners later.
Brad…how was that a mistake? He clearly went out of his way to put a block pass on tickle! Not just a nice block pass, but VERY FORCEFULL! For what? So he could stay ahead for another corner, and be passed by someone else?
brad, just watch the idiot’s throttle hand in the video– he clearly dropped the hammer to T-bone tickle. I think you’re giving him way too much slack.
believe the hype!!
they should have fined him all of his 6th place prize money.
which is less than $4000…
1500 for the holeshot and 2780 for his placement so he net 280 for a very irresponsible T-bone Take Out
Brad when riding at this level you may make a mistake or even two. When you point your bike in the direct line the guy that whipped your ass to the next corner and choose not to use any braking and twist the throttle, then yes you may be a redneck!!
I agree brad,, regardless Alessi screwed his reputation over yet again.. costly mistake
I believe it was poor execution of dirty riding that landed Alessi on the ground as well. I believe Alessi was hoping to take Tickle’s line away before Tickle got there – it was a miscalculation by Alessi; his intent was to retaliate in a dirty way but not fall himself. No rider should want to contact another rider crossing in front of them, it’s a sure way to end up on the ground, every time.
He hit hit because he was faster then he was and Tickle gave the famed look back. This was a B team move. The pace is to fast and the tracks are to technical for that type of action. The AMA should be more inclusive in their decision making to ensure no one is injured because of the actions of a single rider. Remove the points he was awarded for the night and sit him out a round.
If it was hockey after a move like that he would of never lined up. Some one would of beat the crap out of him.
If Alessi hasn’t learned yet, he never will. I think you just put the dagger in your career. I will be surprised if he gets a ride next year. Goodby Alessi Family, you won’t be missed.
Paybacks are a bitch and so is #800
Use to he a fan of mike. But this is the last straw. Needs to grow up.
Believe the hype.. Alessi and family started a pro career over 10 years ago with that statement. They have brought nothing positive to AMA to be hyped about. The whole Alessi crew is full of drama. AMA due our great sport a favor and ban them completely they are giving the sport a bad image. Just my opinion and alot of others.
Not surprised at all by his antics. He can’t win a race to save his career (which is surely done now)
I’m sure his Dad and brother were high fiving over that dick move.
I wish they would suspend him for the rest of the season. That would ensure no ride for the prick next year.
When you do things like the Alessi’s have done that could potentially hurt another rider, you absolutely do not deserve to be on the track!
im pretty sure that first pro race mike allessi competed in 10 years ago was in the 250 class and he was talkin shit sayin he dont need to race 125 class because hes too good. he was sayin he was gonna get top five or a poduim that race. he maybe slipped in the top ten like once that whole season i didnt like him from the beginning
My sons raced the amateur circuit with the Alessi kids. Even then they had a name – and it was not a good one. No one wanted to gate with Tony. Rude, thinking they were entitled…etc. It’s sad that they put my sons and many other in danger for what….a world wide stage for their dangerous antics when things don’t go their way? The sport has enough risks as it is without adding dirty riders to the mix.The whole family needs to be banned from the sport. It makes parents think twice about letting their kids participate when behaviour like this is tolerated.
Why doesn’t Allessi’s team stand up like Josh Hansens team did and boycott the little dick for a race or two……They are just as much a bunch of goons for not standing up to show displeasure to an action that is ‘clearly detrimental to the sport’. Allessi has been disqualified before for that very wording. Professional GOON
Mike Alessi is a pussy. Can’t take someone faster than him, I wonder if he was crying under his helmet when tickle passed him like he was still. Kinda like he cried for winning a heat race.. Tickle shoulda beat his a$$ in the pits.
Yep, I am not an Alessi fan nor do I dislike him but the decision to fine him is BS. These pricks run into each other all the time and 90% of it is on purpose. Bunch of hypocrites.
I any other top rider, Ryan V., Ryan D., Steward, Reed, Justin B, etc. had done the same (and they have already this year) there would have been no fine.
*If not I
Stewart took out Anderson and no fine was levied. Either it’s punishable or it isn’t. It can’t be selective unless the AMA is going to publicize the names of those who can ride recklessly without penalty. RC in the booth is a conflict of interest. Never have we seen so much attention given to a mediocre team on a weekly basis.
I’m with jimmy. I hate the Stewart’s more than the alleys family but Malcolm was just riding over his head mikes was 100% intentional
There is a huge difference between taking a guy out while aggressively passing him and a blatant T-bone like the one Alessi performed. Additionally, there is a lot more that goes into a block pass then you seem to understand. If a guy is holding you up, he knows it. If he doesn’t get out of the way, you block pass him. If he is fast enough, you know you’ve got it coming to you at the next turn. While both are intentional, one is acceptable and one is not. It’s an unwritten code of honor that has been there for years. When you purposely ram you front tire into a guys leg and T-bone him, you have crossed that line.
I can’t count the number of people James “Crash” Stewart and his brother took out. Malcom pulled the same thing alessi did not long ago.
Whatever. You dont even watch the races your a forum guy
wow…I can’t even find words to describe how absurd your comment is.
Iv’e watched a lot of supercross and Reed Stewart etc have had their moments but nothing so blatant as Mikes move.Tough racing versus dirty racing
No rider has ever taken out another so blatantly without AMA intervention. Regardless, Alessi was an idiot for trying the move cause it was never going to work. So he is either an idiot, or a poor sport jackass. And judging from his past he is a poor sport jackass who unfortunately learned it from his father.
When did any other rider this season make
A move like that with intent to harm another rider
Give your helmet a shake pal
Or I mean your head cause you obviously don’t ride
Right on…
In the case of the Alessi’s; they are white trash. Remember, what comes around goes around. Glad Tickle didn’t get hurt.
chuckles are u on a coffee break or are you completely out to lunch? personally I examined it and came to the conclusion that there was no chance of a pass being made, tickle was already exiting the turn. alessi blipped the throttle at him and hit him on the sideplate of the bike. So he was almost gone. it was deliberate to knock him down. as for not punishing other offenders, they review it and draw aline somewhere between aggressive block pass and down right take out move. which this was. and if he had got on the mic after and said “sorry, I lost my head it was a stupid move” than maybe hed save some respct, but he tried to play it off like he was diving inside and it was an accident. hes a goof.
Alessi absolutely needs his a$$ kicked. What he did was no doubt BS. A few inches to the right with his front tire and it could have broken Brocks leg. However Tickle is a much more respected and liked rider than Alessi. So he will get his no doubt about it. Not only foes Mike need it but Tony needs his a$$ thumped on hard and I do mean beat his A$$. The entire family is obviously a joke. I do agree having RC in the booth is probably not the best idea being a team owner. But that has nothing to do with this.
I agree Skip…
I believe thats whats wrong with the Alessis now. No one has taken them out back and put down a good ol country boy a$$ whooping. And when your around them weekly as I am they stilp act as if they are better than you. Mike needs to get away from his dad. Mike Geonova should fire Tony.
It took a long time for the memory of the Alessi/Mike Brown fiasco to fade. This stunt ensures that Mike Alessi has absolutely zero chance of ever getting respect from the two wheeled world. This from someone who hoped that Mike would become man enough to walk out from under Tony’s thumb and never look back. Guess there is no chance of that.
I’m a 59 year old mx racing vetran. I can’t work, walk, and definitely not ride. I’ve had my surgeries and such. I hate it but live with it. If I’d ever had somebody do to me what ASSlessi did I would of and still would take him out. I have never seen the same professionalism in any sport short of pro wrestling, which is a joke.
Mike will apologize and yes he really messed up this time
The best medicine for the situation is for the fans not support the rider, MotoConcepts, the bike he uses, the tires he uses, hell even the gum the Alessi’s chew. Money strange ways of working ugly kinks out in a sport that sees very few problems with riders abusing drugs, or’ other criminal acts. I raised girls, one trail rides, the future of the sport deserves good CLEAN role models. Some sensationalism may excite other sports, no room in this one. I hope the Alessi’s future children, and grand children can keep out of jail. So far the thug-life of lasers and cheap shots are not working so good! Good luck AMA and MotoConcepts in your decision making, it should be a no-brainer.
SHIT HAPPENS!!! I WOULD HAVE DONE IT TO
I agree AMA is a joke for not giving Mike A the rest of the season off. $4000 and a hand slap. That’s week.
If AMA does not want to take the appropriate actions the riders should. If the top riders (or all) refused to race with the 800 on the track then AMA would ban Alessi ASAP. It is sad to see the AMA does not have the guts to hand down the proper punishment.
Mike Alessi and his family have been a stain on the Mx community long enough.
Time to throw out the trash!!!!!
Flash back….**** Alessi and Tedsco 2005 Glen Helen final round 125ccmotocross championship. Alessi took out Tedesco in the corner and whe they both went down
Alessi’s bike stalled so Alessi decided to stand on Tedesco’s bike while attempting to hit the kill switch on Tedesco’s bike in hopes to win the championship. How is the familly of cheaters still allowed to race in the AMA? It’s sad that Tony Alessi has pressured his kids to act so desperately. 2005 incident, Laser pointer incident And now this.
2005 clip forcehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-CogVv5jkk
Good job Mike! Rode great!
alessi can take out tickle and the ama only fines him 4000 and puts him on probation but they wont let josh hansen back… hmmm
yeah…really! Great point…
Crap like that makes me NOT want to buy a sponsors products… If Honda is still giving him money then they will not be getting any of mine!
Well Bam Bam Barcia wrecks everybody and its okay hint the Bam Bam just as long ad he don’t hit Carmichaels boy then it okay. Everybody needs to stop crien bout it.
You obviously don’t race or you would know the difference between a block pass and a T-bone Take Out
The AMA needs to rethink this. This was not an aggressive pass. This was a blatant T-bone. The fine is not nearly serious enough for purposely being unsportsmanlike in both your judgment and your riding. This was not just aggressive riding, but an acute example of unacceptable behavior. Tickle could have been seriously injured and the AMA needs to send a much clearer message than a $4000 fine. BTW, they paid Alessi $1500 for the holeshot and $2780 for his placement. So, he made a net profit of $280 for unnecessarily endangering the health and welfare of another rider.
#800 is a chump!
A petition to remove Alessi from the AMA wouldn’t be the worst thing.
This assface is a holeshot glory queen only to get in everyones way each and every single race. After about 3 or 4 laps the contenders are past him and then the real race can start. Doug Dubach was this way I suppose… at least he didn’t tbone people once he moved backwards through the pack. 6th place is is best finish this year for Alessi?… Give him a medal for this and tell him to stay home from now on.
AMA?… they love this stuff, this will draw ratings. Would be a different story though if Tickle had ended up with a broken leg from the impact or a broken back when he fell off.
To anyone who thinks this was an not intentional…. nobody at this level makes mistakes of this magnatude. At no point did he look like he had lost control of his bike, in fact you can see his body posture brace for impact long before it happened.
first, kicking mikes a$$ along with the old man is what we all would like, but they’ll still wouldn’t learn from it. Just check his race history.
As a dad with a son that races for the past 9 years.
I think it’s about time AMA takes a hard look at how aggressive these so called block passing are getting and what an affect it’s having in the amuetuer racing.
AMA,as a member myself ,fineing Alessi was a good start but we all feel here that Mike needs to also be out of supercross for AT LEAST 2 races besides the fine
and any more of this type of racing problems need to be delt with evenly across the board.
Maybe we need to start a patition to get #800 off the track for at least the next couple of races. Just a thought!
Your brother shining a lazer in someone’s eyes, $10k (plus an additional $5k).
You deliberately taking out another rider, $4k.
Who makes up these numbers?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ng47iiLdWLQ&feature=youtube_gdata_player
It’s a pattern of behavior with this p.o.s. alessi clan. Anyone remember this one?
I’d love to kick Alessi’s ass, or just be a little pussy-ass bitch like him and just kick him square in the nuts. You suck alessi, get outta Motocross and let the people who aren’t faggots ride dirtbikes, without worrying about a slow as bitch taking them out
What an ass clown move. Keep your temper under control bro. You’re lucky this sport isn’t like hockey where you would have catches an ass whooping for a bullshit cheap shot like that. You need a role model
Dear M Allesi and the motoconcept hooligans.
When you get to Canada for the nationals because you cant cut it in the AMA series……and the laser beam hits you in the eyes, remember where we got the idea from ok. Our whole club has our lasers ready, you goon
Total Douche Bag Move by Alessi, Much like that Puss Bag “bam bam Bitcha”!!!
Kenny Watson is the manager of Carey Harts team. He should learn some English before he starts tweeting. You would hope a manager would know the difference between accept and except lol
A less is a puss. Thats a suspension ama. Tickle should rode over a trashed his lessi face. Bad form, but what do you expect…Suzuki samurai anyone? >Besides lezzy
Ama are you kidding?! If your going to fine $4k for a Deliberate Tbone move like that. Then its time to add a 6-8 race suspension. But Since its only a measly $4k fine. . A less would feel my boot up his ass..
I know this was a while back as I and my boy were there. I was re-watching the race and saw this again. I then wanted to remember the fine given so It led me here. After seeing this again on video and not in the stadium, I was shocked at how bad this really could have been. This move could have easily have broken Broc’s neck or back if he’d have hit different. I really enjoy MX/SX as I was raised up with it as my uncle was PRO factory Maico rider Furman Gray. He raced PRO from 1975-1979 where injuries left him with a short career. He was a rider with great talent and one many thought could win a title by 1983. Sadly injuries sent him home early. That’s the second reason it bothers me about Mike doing this. Any racer who can’t control themselves on the track shouldn’t be there. Any racer who pulls a move like this should be suspended for at least one season. I’m not talking aggressive racing, but acts that could harm or kill another rider.
Heath, glad you found MotoXAddicts and, while I really like Mike as a person, I agree with a lot of what you said. Also, I remember your uncle well. Furman was a ripper in his day for sure.
The whole Alessi clan is bad as each other!! The old man defends Mike for everything he does, going…awww my poor son, my poor son… and when they cant win they move into tactics of lasering people..Whats going to happen when someone in the crowd sits like 50 feet from Tony and Jeff and shines a powerful laser in their eyes and burns them, tony will call for the race to stop I bet while he goes to hospital…
THE ALESSI TEAM of TONY JEFF AND MILE ARE A BUNCH OF SORE LOOSERS!!!!! LIKE FATHER LIKE SONS HEY!!!
THE LOT OF THEM ARE BIG SOOKS WHO HAVE TO TAKE TO DODGY TACTICS TO GET ON THE PLACINGS….
SOONER THEY GET LIFE BAN THE BETTER….OH, AND DONT COME TO AUSTRALIA EITHER, WE WILL BE TELLING OUR KANGAROOS TO HUNT YOU DOWN!
