It looks like the AMA is trying to put an end to riders putting their hands on other riders on the race track. On Saturday night in Daytona, Malcolm Stewart and Justin Barcia came together and both went down. After the crash, Malcolm pushed Justin and used his bike to move Justin’s bike out of the way. Today, the AMA put out the press release posted below stating that Malcolm is getting fined $5000 and put on probation for the remainder of the 2014 season. You can watch video of the incident by clicking here, and you can read the press release below.
AMA Press Release Below
Penalty assessed following 450SX AMA Supercross main event in Daytona Beach, Fla., on March 8, 2014
Following a thorough review, the AMA has penalized Haines City, Fla.’s Malcolm Stewart (No. 34) for an AMA Supercross Rulebook violation that took place during the 450SX main event of the 10th round of the 2014 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, in Daytona Beach, Fla., on March 8.
It was determined that Mr. Stewart violated Appendix A2, Section C, parts 9, 10 and 17 of the 2014 AMA Supercross Rulebook.
These sections state, in part:
9. Engaging in any unfair practice, misbehavior or action detrimental to the sport of motorcycling in general, whether or not related to a specific competition event.
10. An attack on a racing official and/or engaging in a fight. This includes any person who attacks or is involved in a fight anywhere on the premises prior to, during or after a Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship meet. There will be no maximum fine or suspension period for this offense.
17. Riding on or off the track at any time in such a manner as to endanger the life or limb of other riders, officials or the public.
In light of the seriousness of these violations, and in recognition of the warning issued to Mr. Stewart for a similar violation that took place at the fourth round of the championship on Jan. 25 in Oakland, Calif., Mr. Stewart has been fined $5,000 and placed on probationary status for the remainder of the 2014 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, season.

Don’t think what Stewart did was right, that being said… I think Barcia is going to piss off the wrong person eventually. Don’t have anything against him but he better pick and choose who he wants stuff and hope it doesn’t come back to cost him a race.
wes do you race it called racing these guys are pros no need for it. pass him back
Really? The AMA officially is weak and almost as big of an idiot as Barcia. Its one thing bumping bars or pushing your oponnent into the tuff blocks…but where was the AMA when Bar via threw a whip that almost took out Ken Roczen’s front wheel over a jump….we all saw that on Ken’s GoPro footage…..and Mookie gets gets fined for pushing the idiot that took out his front tire. Nobody else passes like that or ships onto people’s front tire. AMA officials are idiots and their $5000 fine is stupid…..Mookie is not going to hurt anyone….Barcia on the other hand will. Kiss my hiney there AMA!
Grow up Kid
Okay …yes I can spell but my Android likes to auto correct….Barcia…not Bar via …and whip …not ship ! LOL
Barica should be fined not Malcolm
U ppl are close minded, Barcia did nothing to Malcolm and Malcolm acted like a sore loser. Plus this is the second time this season Malcolm pushed someone to the ground after a accident, let’s not forget about him cleaning out the points leader in the west coast over a pass Anderson put on him where no one went down or came close. Does anyone remember at the Utah outdoor national last yr where Malcolm almost put Barcia into the metal rigging holding the banner over one if the jumps. Say what u want about Barcia but you don’t see him acting like a immature child out their over racking in indents.
What about when alessi t boned tickle the race before?!
Really 800 can t-bone some one and get a smack on the hand but Malcolm can barely touch some one and the AMA does this. That is as dumb as it comes the AMA is a damn joke. I think that they need to do something about the ones that is really gonna get somebody hurt instead of doing stupid shit like this!!!!!!!
When 2 riders are racing at the top of there level, stuff like this is going to happen, Malcolm was very childish pushin those guys after each wreck though, suck it up and move on, it happens!!!! The fine was uncalled for, should be a warning first time and also warn Barcia about the events, and to be more aware when countering someone at that pace!!!!!!!!
Okay I think a few of you are missing the point. What happens when racing is racing. However, When one man puts his hands on another man you’ve now crossed the line legally and like it or not that opens a whole new realm of legal ramifications. At that point one could actually press charges for assault. Not saying it’s right or wrong but the AMA certainly doesn’t want to start dealing with that legality!
What Malcom did was not ok, but to suspend him for the rest of the year are a little too hard. Check out what happened to Mike Alessi when he literally mashed Tickle.
AMA is a joke
i bet K-Roc thought what Mookie did was alright.
i bet K-Roc got some silent joy seeing BamBam get pushed around…
Alessi was fined and put on probation. Stewart was fined and put on probation. Barcia should have been fined and put on probation as well for what he did to K-Roc.
Malcolm rides over his head so much his frustration explodes when riders are in front of him. If he would calm down like his brother did last year and just ride he would show a lot better as did James.
