With the announcement that Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Adam Cianciarulo will pull out of the 2014 250SX Eastern Regional Championship, it’s now down to GEICO/Honda’s Justin Bogle and Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Martin Davalos for the Championship. Heading into round six in Toronto last weekend, Cianciarulo had a seventeen-point lead over Davalos, but with his DNF combined with Bogle’s win and Davalos’ second place finish, the #31 and #32 are just a mere five points apart. We would have Monster/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Blake Baggett in the conversation, but with a crash and DNF in Toronto, he’s now twenty-four points back.

Who is the favorite? That’s a tough call, but with Davalos having the edge on speed and Bogle having the momentum right now, it’s going to be a tight battle. As of last week, both Bogle and Davalos saw the Championship riding away on the #46 bike, but it’s now theirs to win or lose. Neither Davalos or Bogle have ever been in a professional championship fight and both got their first-ever main event win in 2014. As far as experience goes, Davalos is the veteran of the class, but he has been known to make mistakes while under pressure—and he’s never faced pressure like a championship battle. Either way, things are just getting good out east, and it’s going to be awesome to see it unfold in Vegas.

Davalos is three races away from adding another #1 plate to the Pro Circuit trailer. After having a firm grasp on this Championship, Mitch Payton would have a hard time losing this one. Photo by: Hoppenworld
