With the Monster Energy Supercross, an FIM World Championship series, coming to a close, there’s always a laundry list of injuries, and unfortunately, GEICO/Honda’s Eli Tomac joined that list today. Fresh off the rookie matching his best finish of the year in the 450SX—a second place finish at East Rutherford SX—Eli went down and broke his collarbone while practicing. It’s always unfortunate when a rider is injured, but even more so when the rider was just getting back up to speed from an earlier injury. As it sits, Eli is 13th in the 2014 450SX Championship standings with two podiums on the season.

With the opening round of the 2014 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship at Glen Helen just over three weeks away, it will be tough for the 2013 250 National Motocross Champ to make it back in time, but we have seen riders make it back even faster from collarbone breaks. It’s a long shot, but we hope to see the #3 on the line come May 24th. Check out the tweet the GEICO/Honda team sent out over their Twitter account earlier below. We will update you more when we get more information.
