Every year in the Monster Energy Supercross, an FIM World Championship series, we see a couple of privateers make a fair share of main events and begin to make a name for themselves. In 2014, the biggest surprise of all the privateers was #606 on the Dirt Candy Graphics/PRBC.com Suzuki, Ronnie Stewart. Ronnie has been riding the professional class for a few years and even finished as high as 11th in a moto at the 2012 Spring Creek National, but before making his first 450SX main event at the Indianapolis Supercross and introducing everyone to the Ronnie Stewart fist pump, nobody knew who the other Stewart was.

Since making that all important first 450SX main event in Indy, Ronnie has gone on to make every main event since. In a total of nine main event appearances, Ronnie finished as high as 14th at the penultimate round in East Rutherford and ended the series 29th in the 450SX Championship—which in our book, puts him in the top-five among guys we consider the “true privateers”. Now, with that newfound “I belong in this class” confidence, Ronnie and his Dirt Candy Graphics/PRBC.com super-trick toy hauler will head outdoors and try to carry this momentum into the 2014 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.

After struggling with a couple gnarly crashes at the finale in Las Vegas, MotoXAddicts’ Chase Yocom caught up with Ronnie in his team rig for a quick interview about his night and his season. You can listen to the interview by clicking play below.
