With Monster Energy/Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto dominating the last four rounds of the 2014 Monster Energy Supercross series and locking down his fourth-straight 450SX championship in style, some wondered how the heck he could be doing that with an injury. Then, when he announced he would be sitting out the 2014 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship to get the injury fixed, a lot of outdoor motocross fans were left scratching their heads.

We’re not sure exactly what RV got fixed, but whatever it is, it looks like a lot more than a simple knee clean up. From the size of the incision, it looks like the defending Supercross and Motocross champion got another new ACL, but that’s just speculation due to the picture the #1 sent out today. Either way, it looks gnarly, and we hope he has a good vacation and recovery before he returns in 2015 to try to become the first man ever to win five-straight 450SX championships.
