With MuscleMilk/Honda’s Justin Barcia sidelined with an injury for the remainder of the year, there have been a handful of names thrown around as possible fill-ins on the factory Honda team. The names we heard for the spot were Tommy Weeck, Tommy Hahn, Nick Wey, Nick Schmidt and Fredrik Noren. For most privateers, the chance to race a full factory Honda is a huge opportunity as well as a life long dream, and today we are being told that Swedish-born Fredrik Noren got the call to begin racing the bike at RedBud for the 4th of July weekend.

Noren has been riding a privateer KTM in 2014 and has had some very impressive rides over the first five rounds of the 2014 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. The #80 finished 29th in the first moto at Glen Helen, but since then, he has scored points in every moto. Overall, Noren’s best results of the year was a 12th overall at the Hangtown National and he currently sits 13th overall in the 450MX Championship points. Hopefully, having the luxury and the infrastructure of factory Honda will push the Swede up in the results.

Congrats to Fredrik, and good luck with this huge opportunity.
