The 2015 San Diego Supercross and round six of the 2015 Monster Energy Supercross, an FIM World Championship series, is in our rear-view-mirror, and Honda Racing’s Trey Canard and Star Racing/Yamaha’s Cooper Webb both pushed their win totals up. For Trey, his win in San Diego marked his second 450SX win of the year, and for Copper, it was his fourth win in the 2015 Western Regional 250SX Championship.

In the 450SX class, RCH/Suzuki’s Ken Roczen pulled the holeshot with Canard, Monster/Kawasaki’s Davi Millsaps and Red Bull/KTM’s Ryan Dungey in tow. From the drop of the gate, Canard looked to have more speed than anyone, and he used that speed to get around Roczen for the lead and check out to a three-second lead. Late in the race, though, the #94 reeled in the #41, and the two battled for the win for the final five laps. In the end, Canard kept his cool under pressure to cross the line just in front of the German with Dungey joining them on the podium in third.

In the 250SX class, it was Monster/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Tyler Bowers getting to the front early with Webb and Troy Lee Designs/KTM’s Shane McElrath close behind. With questions surrounding Webb’s health after he had a gnarly get off in practice, most thought Webb would lay up for a podium, but the red plate holder was feeling better than most thought. For the first six laps, Bowers  looked comfortable with a solid three-second lead, but by the halfway point of the main event, the #17 and the #40 were right on the #911’s rear wheel. Then on lap ten, after a brief three-way battle for the lead, both Webb and McElrath rode right around Bowers and immediately put time on the Pro Circuit rider. At the checkered flag, it was Webb getting his fourth win of the year with McElrath crossing the line in second for the first-ever podium of career and Bowers hanging on for a third.

In the San Diego SX lap time race, it was Trey Canard (55.568) recording the fastest lap while trying to runaway for his second win of the year. In the first ten laps of the main event, Trey ran six lap-times faster than Roczen’s (56.377) fastest lap of the day, but somehow, Ken was still able to close the gap later in the main event. The second (56.214) and third (56.306) fastest laps of the 450SX main event were turned in by Rockstar/Husqvarna’s Jason Anderson—who finished 10th—and Dungey—who finished third.

The fastest 250SX rider on the night was Tyler Bowers (56.274). Tyler showed once again that he has the speed to win, but it looked like the veteran either pumped up or hit the wall physically late in the main. Webb’s fastest lap (56.579) was the third fastest lap, but fast enough to get him the main win and stretch his lead in the 2015 Western Regional Supercross Championship to thirty points.  The second fastest lap (56.555) was turned in by the second place finisher, McElrath.
