After breaking his foot and finishing a career-best fourth at the second round of the 2015 Monster Energy Supercross, an FIM World Championship series, in Phoenix, JGR/Yamaha’s Weston Peick came back early for round seven in Arlington last Saturday night. Right away in Arlington, the #23 showed he had not lost a step. In qualifying practice he qualified with the ninth fastest time, and he looked on his way to possibly improving his best-ever finish when he qualified with a second place finish behind Ryan Dungey and ahead of Ken Roczen right out of his heat race. Unfortunately, the sport of supercross is a b-word, and the Californian’s night ended just one hundred feet out of the starting gate in the 450SX main event with a gnarly first-turn crash. It looked like Weston came in a little hot, caught Andrew Short’s rear wheel and the rest was history.

With that crash, Weston’s return to action at the Arlington SX ended with a 22nd place DNS—because he never finished a lap—and a torn MCL to add to his ever-growing list of bumps and bruises. While you might think Weston announcing that he had a torn MCL might end with the big man saying, “We’ll see you in 6-8 weeks,” that’s not the case with a man known for getting the best of the ground in most crashes. Instead, Weston said he will be on the line at the Atlanta 1 SX this weekend ready to go. So, for now, you need to pencil the #23 in on your fantasy lineup for this Saturday night.
