Race Report: 2015 Lille (Bercy) Supercross - Night 1

Most of the 21000 spectators who came to the Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Lille for the first night of the Paris Lille SX were expecting a win from one of the Stewart brothers, as both were really fast during the practice sessions and heat races. But finally it’s Weston Peick and Cooper Webb who fight for the win in the main event, and Peick won the battle while Christophe Pourcel got a third overall.

Fastest rider during the practice session and also the Superpole, James Stewart lost his chances with a crash in the heat race and another in the main. After his crash in the heat race, he was able to come back in third, but when he collided with his brother in the main the factory Suzuki rider asked some help to walk back to the pits. James was out before the end of the opening lap, Malcolm was last and Dylan Ferrandis was also out of the race as Malcolm hit him and damaged his bike during the first lap.

Webb #17 and Peick #28 battled for the final three laps of the main for the win.

The fight for the win was a battle between Peick, Pourcel and Webb; Peick passed Shaun Simpson during the second lap to lead the race, and Cooper Webb did an exciting race, as he was seventh after one lap. Coming back third after four laps, then joining Pourcel and passing him for second in the eleventh circulation, Webb came back on Peick and fight with him during the last three laps. He passed him a couple of times but Peick always passed him back, to win the main followed by Webb and Pourcel. It was a good night for Yamaha, with a win and a second position but also a fourth, fifth and sixth places thanks to Valentin Guillod, Cédric Soubeyras and Romain Febvre who raced his first SX since a while.

In the SX2 class Maxime Desprey claimed the overall with a win and a second position in the two heats. Winner of the second race but fifth in the first one, Florent Richier finished third overall behind Thomas Do who scored two podium results and increases his leadership in the French SX Tour. The second night will start today at 3pm.
