Dungey has 97 points in the first four rounds. The last three times that has happened was Chad Reed in 2008, James Stewart in 2007 and Reedy again in ’04. Chad finished with nine wins in ’04 and 9 wins in ’08, and James finished ’07 with a massive 13 wins. Photo by: Hoppenworld

Before the 2016 Monster Energy Supercross, an FIM World Championship series began, the talk was about the incredible depth and talent in the 450SX class. So far, though, only Rockstar Energy/Husqvarana’s Jason Anderson (1 win) and Red Bull/KTM’s Ryan Dungey (3 wins) have lit the candles in the first four 450SX main events. Since Anderson’s surprising win at the opener, Ryan Dungey has led fifty-six of a possible sixty laps on his way to three-straight main event wins and a twenty-two point lead in the Championship. If Ryan wins on Saturday night in Phoenix, it will be the first time Ryan has ever won four-straight main events in his career.

Over the years in Supercross, Ryan had been known as that guy that could win championships with consistency and mistakes by his opponents, not by dominating the field. In fact, while the #1 has twenty-five main event wins and two 450SX Championships to his name, last year was the first year he ever finished a season with the most wins (8 wins). During Dungey’s 2010 450SX Championship season, he won five main events to Ryan Villopoto’s seven wins, and from 2011 through 2014 he scored only seven total wins. The Minnesota-born champion won more than that in 2015 alone and now looks well on his way to establishing a new personal-best in 2016.

If you look at who is on the line in 2016, it’s hard to imagine anyone having a 9+ win season, but after the way Dungey has dominated the last three rounds, it’s even harder to figure out how anyone is going to stop him from winning 9+. With that, we ask you, how many wins will Ryan Dungey have on the board for 2016 when the checkered flag waves in Las Vegas?
