The 2016 entry list for the MXGP class is a special one and special for a number of reasons. Six former or present world champions in the class, 18 riders with a GP win against their name. Total GP wins are 192, with Antonio Cairoli owning 74 of those.

The stats for this group of riders is just mind blowing. The only world champions from the last 14 years, who are not racing MXGP in 2016 number seven.

They are of course Stefan Everts (2003 MXGP, 2004 MXGP, 2005, MXGP, 2006 MXGP), Christophe Pourcel (2006 MX2), Steve Ramon (2003 MX2, 2007 MXGP), Tyla Rattray (2008 MX2), Marvin Musquin (2009 and 2010 MX2), Ken Roczen (2011 MX2) and Jeffrey Herlings (2012 and 2013 MX2). Of those seven, only four are still racing, Pourcel, Musquin, Roczen and Herlings.
