Heading into a place like the Daytona Supercross, where Yoshimura / Suzuki’s James Stewart has dominated races in the past, the team and James had to feel good about possibly getting their season back on the rails. Instead, James’ Daytona SX lasted approximately a half of a lap.

While running in sixth in the opening lap of the first 450SX heat race, James made a huge mistake in the whoop section, looped out his Suzuki 450 and hit the ground hard. Racer X reported that the Yoshimura / Suzuki team said that Stewart “suffered deep bruising to his lower back,” and while it’s too early to tell, they hope to have James on the line for the Toronto SX.

At this point, what can we say about James’ latest crash and injury that hasn’t already been said? I mean, to say his return to racing in 2016 after his sixteen-month suspension has been brutal, would be grossly understated.

This has been by far the most brutal season in James’ career, and if I were the man making the decision, I would pull the plug until the 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. But I’m not the one making the decisions, and I’m sure his many sponsors that shell out millions of dollars would have something to say about my decision. Either way, we hope the best for the #7 and want to see the old Bubba back just like the rest of his fans do.
