In moto one, Troy Lee Designs / KTM’s Jessy Nelson finished a solid sixth to start the day. Early in moto two—while running 9th—Jessy got cross-rutted and slammed to the ground hard. Jessy was transported to a local area hospital, and so far the updates are not good but are too vague and unsubstantiated to report. The rumors are scary, though, and focused on Jessy’s spine.

Everyone is asking for positive thoughts and prayers for the #13 tonight in what sounds like a rough night and possible long recovery for Jessy. We will update you more when we have a more definitive update. We also want to give huge props to Cody Williams, who stopped his race to help free Jessy from being trapped under his machine. The race was red flagged due to Jessy’s crash.

We hope the next news we bring is positive. All our thoughts and prayers are with Jessy and his family today.

Update: From Jessy Nelson: “In the second Moto at Unadilla, I had a crash in a tricky turn, ultimately ending with a red flag for the race. I went down pretty hard of a direct result of the bike hitting me from behind. I am currently at a hospital in Cooperstown, NY where we are waiting for some swelling to go down in my back before doing surgery. At this time I have limited feeling from my waist down. The hope is that after the swelling goes down, I will get some more feeling back. Thank you all for your support, kind thoughts and prayers. I will keep you posted in the next few days!”
