Following the Qualifying Race Press Conferences that took place here in Assen yesterday, Team Belgium’s Manager, Joel Smets, officially presented the three riders selected to represent Belgium at the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations, Suzuki World MXGP’s Kevin Strijbos, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Clement Desalle and Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jeremy Van Horebeek. Joel said, “The most difficult part was picking an MX2 rider, and the first person I wanted to ask was Jeremy Van Horebeek, so I was really surprised when he was super pumped and he said to me, YEAH!
I want to win this thing. It was easy to pick Kevin since he won the GP in Belgium and since he is the oldest and most experienced, I made him the captain of the team, and he is going to be a father at the end of the year so he needs to learn how to carry the responsibility,” he laughed, “and then for the open class I picked a guy who already has the experience, Clement Desalle, so I feel we have a lot of experience on our team, and even though these guys may not be world champions, I feel we can win in Maggiora.”
