Cooper Webb: (Team USA) “I think think this team is hungry. I think when it comes down to it, if you have three guys that want to win, it’s hard to lose. We’re all in shape. We’re all grinders. We all do what we need to do, so I think that’ll be the biggest thing. Obviously, you have to have luck and you have to be consistent. Last year, we were as solid as we can be. We had three guys that wanted to win and wanted to do it. It’s tough when you have a guy that doesn’t really want to do it. When you were a kid, this is the one you always wanted to race and win—represent your country. It’s a pride thing. I want to show them this country’s best.”

Gautier Paulin: (Team France) “I have such great memories of the Nations, especially last year and Team France winning in front of all the home fans. This year we have a great team again with Benoit and Romain. We’ve been training together in Italy this week and we’re all working hard to defend our victory. I think everyone in motocross loves the Nations as it’s such a special race, and we’re all really looking forward to it. The atmosphere from last year will be hard to beat but Maggiora is such a classic track that it will be a very special event again.”

Evgeny Bobryshev: (Team Russia) “It’s an honor to have been selected again for Team Russia for the Nations. I really like competing in this event because it’s so different to what we’re used to and always special with the fans and the support which makes the atmosphere so enjoyable. I’m looking forward to getting on board the 2017 CRF again too – from Charlotte and Glen Helen we learned so much about the bike and this is helping us get the best out of it race-by-race, and get a jumpstart on next season.”

Alex Martin: (Team USA) “It’s amazing to be chosen. I’ve been to the MXoN twice before in the past with Team Puerto Rico, so it’s pretty unique for me to come back with Team USA. I’ve been able to witness it a couple of times with how prestigious it is and the history behind it. It’s such a cool race, and the fans are crazy. I’m pretty excited to be going to Italy—never been there before—so for sure there will be some sightseeing involved. It’s cool to be involved in something like this and such an honor.”

Max Nagl: (Team Germany) “Maggiora and the Motocross of Nations is a very special combination – I think this weekend’s race is going to be one of the best. Like always I look forward to the MXoN. Personally, of course I want to do the best I can and to try and fight for a good result in the MXGP class. We will see how the German team will do. There are some strong teams this year, and some teams that maybe aren’t as strong as in other years, so there is a lot to fight for. My focus is just to try and get the best starts possible and then push hard for the best result I can.”

The biggest question mark for Team USA is Jason Anderson. He has only raced once in the last couple of months, but he's young and hungry to prove himself at Maggiora. Photo by: Hoppenworld

Jason Anderson: (Team USA) “It’s always fun to race in Europe, I’m really looking forward to the Motocross of Nations. We have a great team, so it’s going to be cool to mix it up with riders we don’t normally get to compete against. The Maggiora track is a special place and I can’t wait to ride it.”

Max Anstie: (Team Great Britain) “I’m really looking forward to the Motocross of Nations. It’s such a special race and this year I think the atmosphere is going to be better than ever. Maggiora is a very unique track – I think the racing’s going to be great. With Tommy and Shaun I think Great Britain has a really good chance of a strong result. Anything can happen at the Nations, so if we all do what we know we can do, I think we might surprise a few people. Obviously, I’m looking for a good MX2 class result. I feel good so I’ll be doing all I can to help the British team and end my season on a high note.”
